Why You Don’t See My Baby’s Face Online, And What I Offer Instead

If you follow me, you’ve probably noticed something missing: my daughter’s face.

It’s not a secret. I’m not hiding her out of fear or trying to make a statement. It’s just… a choice. One that my husband and I made together, rooted in the simple fact that the internet is forever, and she hasn’t had a say yet. When we discussed it, interestingly enough, we actually had totally different reasons for our decision!

We both grew up during that first wave of digital life… awkward Facebook albums, old forum profiles, things you posted as a teenager that now make you cringe. And now, as parents, we’re in this new era where baby photos and milestone videos are everywhere. It’s beautiful, and I totally get why people share. I even love seeing my friends’ babies grow up through my feed! I am friends with parents of my former daycare students and I LOVE seeing the updates. They’re all getting so big.

But for us, we decided to keep our daughter’s image mostly offline…especially her face. We still take a lot of photos. I mean, I’m a photographer! I have folders full of tiny toes, her soft curls, sleepy snuggles, and all the magic of her babyhood. We just keep most of them private.

And that’s the thing! I don’t believe one choice is better than another. I think it’s about what fits your family’s comfort, values, and gut instinct. You know yourself. You know your child. You know your boundaries.

For those of you who feel the same, or want to share your journey in a quieter way… I’d love to help. Faceless baby photography is something I am really excited about offering. I focus on the tiny details: the way their hand wraps around yours, the curve of their cheek as they sleep, their little socks tossed off in a pile after a busy day. These moments are intimate and timeless… and you don’t have to give up your privacy to keep them.

Whether it’s in-home lifestyle sessions or just a simple walk through the park, we can capture your baby’s story in a way that feels true to you.

Thanks for being here. Thanks for respecting our boundaries. And if you’re on the same path, I see you. You’re not alone.
